Save a Certificate Request in a File

You can prepare a certificate request for use later, or to retain a copy of the request even if it is processed at the same time as it is saved.
Users or local Administrators is the minimum group membership required to complete this procedure. Review the details in "Additional considerations" in this topic.

Open a Web browser.
Open http://servername/certsrv, where servername is the name of the Web server hosting the certification authority (CA) Web enrollment pages.
Click Request a certificate, and under Advanced certificate request, click Create and submit a request to this CA.
Enter any identifying information requested and any other options you require.
Under Additional Options, select the file format you want to use.
In Full path name, type a path and file name.
Click Submit. The file is saved to your computer's desktop.
If you are finished using the Web enrollment pages, close the Web browser.
